New!  Call for Applications:
Safe Workplace Promotion Services Ontario

The workplace accident prevention system in Ontario is currently being restructured to enhance the delivery of health and safety services to all regions and businesses. Several meetings have been held and the process is well underway to amalgamate Industrial Accident Prevention Association (“IAPA”), Ontario Service Safety Alliance (“OSSA”), and Farm Safety Association (“FSA”) into one organization to be called Safe Workplace Promotion Services Ontario (“SWPSO”), which will continue to serve the industrial, service, farming and similar sectors across Ontario.

Safe Workplace Promotion Services Ontario (“SWPSO”) Advisory Group is searching for candidates with senior executive and leadership experience from Ontario’s industrial, service, and farming sectors who have vision, leadership, and commitment. This is an opportunity to provide leadership in the health and safety field within the business community and influence the strategic direction of SWPSO. This is also an opportunity for your company to be recognized as a leader in healthy workplaces.

Applications will be accepted until July 3, 2009.  Please go to the SWPSO Board of Directors Page or SWPSO Advisory Committee Page for details.

Advisory Committees

OSSA values and needs the contributions of volunteers.

In exchange for the insight and expertise that our members bring to the table, we believe it is our obligation to provide every opportunity for personal and professional growth. We are a learning organization. This extends to our volunteers as well.

Advisory Committees

To find out about our five, sector-specific advisory committees go to the following sector pages:

Currently there are over 100 members participating on OSSA's Advisory committees. Participants provide a vital link between the sub-sector rate group and OSSA. In return, our committee members realize there are many advantages to participation:

  • Lending your expertise to an Advisory Committee brings your knowledge and expertise to the attention of a large, well-connected peer group.
  • Your business and personal networks will expand, offering you the opportunity for future career growth.
  • An opportunity to develop and enhance your leadership skills.
  • The opportunity to see your practical and effective ideas take root.
  • Share your business insight and skills.
  • A deep sense of accomplishment and pride in seeing results.
  • Thanks and acknowledgement for a job well done.

OSSA Advisory committees meet four times a year. At these meetings, members:

  • Advise on sub-sector programs, services and product needs.
  • Identify existing and emerging Occupational Health & Safety issues and emerging trends to support the strategic development of new OSSA initiatives.
  • Provide feedback on the quality and effectiveness of programs and products in the education of the work force and the impact of OSSA has had in the reduction of accidents, injuries and loss in the workplace.
  • Support the development of the OSSA Advisory Committee that are representative of the stakeholders the OSSA serves.
  • Promote the activities and initiatives of the OSSA and participate in OSSA events and programs where appropriate.
