For Immediate Release
Toronto - September 18, 2007: It was announced yesterday that the Ontario Service Safety Alliance (OSSA) has received Canada Awards for Excellence (CAE) Silver Award from the National Quality Institute for providing high-quality service to its clients.
At just 10 years old, OSSA is the youngest of 21 public and private sector organizations to win the award, which recognizes outstanding achievements in quality, customer service, and a healthy workplace. In 2006, OSSA achieved its Progressive Excellence Program Level III certification through the National Quality Institute (NQI).
“This is certainly wonderful news,” says Elizabeth Mills, President and CEO, OSSA, “and not just for OSSA. Yes, the external recognition honours the passion and commitment of our staff for what they do and how they do it, and it also validates how we’ve chosen to leverage the funds that come from the premiums contributed by our members. We have committed to quality as the foundation for how we make decisions and do business, so that we can consistently deliver high-calibre products and services to our clients.”
OSSA staff collaborate with service sector workplaces to integrate health and safety solutions into daily operations, so that workers can return home healthy and safe to their families at the end of their shift.
“We may be a small company and a young company,” says Ms. Mills, “but we have come of age, and our work with service sector clients, some of whom are national in scope, leaves a large footprint.”
The CAE Silver Award will be presented to the OSSA by the National Quality Institute at the annual awards program on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
The Ontario Service Safety Alliance is a not-for-profit health and safety association which offers a range of high-quality health and safety learning products, certified training and expert consultative services to Ontario’s service sector. It is one of 12 health and safety associations designated by the Workplace Health and Safety Association.
