The Great Outdoors is a video-based training program. You can offer it as a facilitated training session to your team or as a self-study program. It includes practice exercises and pre- and post-tests to help employees assess their own learning.

The program is split into two parts - one for summer and one for winter. The summer program focuses on summer groundskeeping equipment and working safely in the spring, summer, and autumn. The winter program reviews winter groundskeeping equipment and working safely during the winter months. Some of the topics covered in the program are safety inspections, Personal Protective Equipment, tools, equipment re-fuelling, chemical safety, WHMIS, cold and heat hazards, insect bites/stings, heavy material moving, trimming, shovelling, roles and responsibilities, and health and safety legislation.
The program is for groundskeepers and landscapers, including golf course employees, property management people, resort personnel, cemetery workers, park and recreation employees and other people whose responsibilities include groundskeeping work. It is handy for employees, supervisors, managers, occupational health nurses, and joint health and safety committee members.
