Build a sustainable health and safety system and achieve a healthier bottom line

Formerly the OSSA Safety Group, the Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS) Safety Group continues to work to develop your success through the WSIB’s Safety Group Program.

WSPS provides health and safety products, training and consulting to Ontario’s agricultural, manufacturing and service sectors, and is a trusted advisor to businesses seeking to boost productivity and profitability by reaching zero work-related injuries, illnesses and fatalities.

The WSPS Safety Group Program (formerly OSSA) is seeking to bring together like-minded, safety-conscious firms from among its membership to develop and plan sustainable prevention programs. Members will work on common problems and hazards and integrate these solutions into their workplace.

Participation in safety groups can:

  • Help your company build a sustainable health and safety culture and management system incrementally over five years
  • Reduce risk of workplace injury - many groups achieve reductions of up to 20%
  • Potential to earn a maximum financial rebate of up to 6% of your annual WSIB premiums (rebate based on safety group achievement and improved performance)
  • Allow you to achieve success through mentoring, pooling resources and sharing best practices with similar businesses
  • Leverage our service sector expertise through ongoing coaching and consultant visits

Our Track Record
Launched in 2008, WSPS Safety Group-Services member firms collectively achieved in 2010:

  • a 20.73% drop in lost-time injury rates
  • 26.56% drop in severity rates
  • total premium rebates of more than $510,846

  • The Toronto Automobile Dealers’ Association.
  • The Greater Toronto Hotels Association.
  • Tim Hortons.

Member Testimonials

"Pfaff Automotive has six seats at [WSPS]'s Safety Group - one for each of our six business locations. For two years, we have attended quarterly meetings to share best practices with other automotive dealers in the area. At the meetings, an exchange of ideas has helped our managers pick up time-saving ideas, along with synergies that have helped implement the dealerships' health and safety plan. The Safety Group also enabled our managers to gauge their effectiveness in implementing their health and safety plan in relationship to their peers in the Group".

Chris Pfaff, President & CEO, Pfaff Automotive Partners

"The project can be overwhelming when you look at it as a whole. The [WSPS] Safety Group encourages us to make it manageable by breaking it down into similar sections, instead of trying to do everything at once. The experts in the room and guest speakers help us meet legislative requirements by sharing specific best practices, which reduces rework and saves time".

Anna Salvati, Director, People Resources, Delta Toronto East

"Working with a knowledgeable partner has been instrumental in improving and fine tuning our best practices, greatly enhancing the safety of our staff and customers".

Kaiyoz Vesuwala, Tim Hortons franchise owner
